Higgs Hunters project FAQs

Schools are helping to analyse “clicks” data gathered from citizen scientists participating in the Higgs Hunters project. This data has been collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The main physics topics that the project links to is particle physics.

You can find out more by watching the films on our YouTube channel.

Students should begin working through the three exercises on the Higgs Hunters section of the dataserver. In the library section you will also be able to view examples of previous work.

No, you should not need any specialist packages. There is no one way to analyse the data. It is up to the students which approach to take. Some will use Excel, others will carry out the analysis using Python.
